Peruvian  Andes

After a short tour of Lima on the Peruvian coast we flew into Cuzco, the former  Inca capital at 11,000 ft. After a few days of exploring the city, we were on our way to Machu Picchu via the  Inca Trail, a three day, 26.7 mile hiking trail that winds up and down the Andes. The trail crossed three mountain passes with the highest being 13,776 ft. Laying eyes upon Machu Picchu for the first time is truly a sight to behold, and that sensation is heightened more-so by the  satisfaction of arriving on foot.
