SUMMARY:Cass Lake - Norway Beach
DESCRIPTION:Club trip to Cass Lake\n\n\n\nView map and route directions from your location\n\n\n\nWe have five sites reserved in the quiet\, beachside Wanaki Loop. The campground has beaches and mature pines. It has flush toilets and hot showers. Our sites are non-electric but the bathrooms do have electricity. We can have one trailer/camper per site plus tents. A boat ramp and dock are available.\n\n\n\nCass Lake is the largest of 8 lakes in the Cass Lake Chain\, covering 16\,000 acres with 27 miles of shoreline.\n\n\n\nStar Island\, in the middle of Cass Lake\, is a unique feature of the Chippewa National Forest. Six miles of public trails wind around the island which also has an inland lake of its own\, 199 acre Lake Windigo. This is one of the few lakes in the US that is on an island of another lake and earned it an entry in Ripley's Believe It or Not. Chippewa Chief Yellowhead's village was on Star Island. He guided Henry Schoolcraft to the Mississippi headwaters.\n\n\n\nThe Norway Beach Visitor Center is nearby. This building\, with its magnificent fireplace\, is a monument to the talents and craftsmanship of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Education programs and displays depict Dakota and Ojibwe heritage and the area's flora and fauna.\n\n\n\nBesides kayaking there are hiking and biking trails in the area\, including the Migizi Bike Trail and the Norway Beach Trail.\n\n\n\nLOCATION: Cass Lake\, MN\n\nThis trip is only a short 65 mile drive from Brainerd!\n\n\n\nView map and route directions from your location
